The Saudi version of the disappearance and murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi seems to change every day or so. The latest is the Saudi government claim that the opposition journalist was killed in a “botched interrogation” at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Or was it a fist-fight? What is laughable is that the Saudi king has placed Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, a prime suspect, in charge of the investigation of Khashoggi’s murder!

Though the official story keeps changing, what is unlikely to change is Washington’s continued relationship with Saudi Arabia. It is a partnership that is in no way beneficial to Americans or the US national interest.

President Trump has promised “severe punishment” if the Saudi government is found to have been involved in Khashoggi’s murder, but he also took off the table any reduction in arms sales to prop up the murderous Saudi war on Yemen. It’s all about jobs, said President Trump. So the Saudi killing of thousands in Yemen can go on. Some murders are more important than others, obviously.

The killing of Khashoggi puts the Trump Administration is in a difficult situation. President Trump views Iran as designated enemy number one. Next month the US Administration intends to impose a new round of sanctions designed to make it impossible for Iran to sell its oil on the international market. To keep US fuel prices from spiking over this move Trump is relying on other countries, especially Saudi Arabia, to pump more and make up the difference. But the Saudis have threatened $400 a barrel oil if President Trump follows through with his promise of “severe punishment” over the killing of Khashoggi.

The Saudis have also threatened to look for friendship in Moscow or even Tehran if Washington insists on “punishing” the regime in Riyadh. For a super-power, the US doesn’t seem to have many options.

What whole mess reveals is just how wise our Founding Fathers were to warn us against entangling alliances. For too many decades the US has been in an unhealthy relationship with the Saudi kingdom, providing the Saudis with a US security guarantee in exchange for “cheap” oil and the laundering of oil profits through the US military-industrial complex by the purchase of billions of dollars in weapons.

This entangling relationship with Saudi Arabia should end. It is unfortunate that the tens of thousands of civilians dead from Yemen to Syria due to Saudi aggression don’t matter as much as the murder of one establishment journalist like Khashoggi, but as one Clinton flack once said, we should not let this current crisis go to waste.

This is not about demanding that the Saudis change their ways, reform their society on the lines of a liberal democracy, or allow more women to drive. The problem with our relationship with Saudi Arabia is not about Saudi Arabia. It is about us. The United States should not be in the business of selling security guarantees overseas to the highest bidder. We are constantly told that the US military guarantees our own safety and so it should be.

No, this is about returning to a foreign policy that seeks friendship and trade with all nations who seek the same, but that heeds the warning of George Washington in his Farewell Address that “a passionate attachment of one nation for another produces a variety of evils.” If we care about the United States we must heed this warning. No more passionate attachments overseas. Friendship and trade over all.

Virtually no one had even heard of Senator Mazie Hirono (D-HI) before the Kavanaugh hearings, but she has garnered her 15 minutes of fame, albeit to only demonstrate how absolutely incompetent she is.  Still, the senator from Hawaii stood right alongside Rep. Maxine Waters in her justification of harassing Republicans in public.

In an interview on CNN with Dana Bash, Hirono did not denounce such actions by Democrat supporters who want to form an angry mob like “Mad” Maxine Waters encouraged them to do to force Trump cabinet members out of the public square and threaten Trump supporters, but instead, sought to justify their criminal behavior.

From CNN.

BASH: The president, Republicans are saying Democratic protesters are, quote, ‘an angry mob.’ What I want to ask you about, it is one thing to protest the Supreme Court at the Capitol. That’s been done for generations and frankly since the founding of this country.

HIRONO: Yes.

BASH: It’s another thing to run senators out of restaurants and go to their homes. Is that going too far?

HIRONO: I think it just means that there are a lot of people who are very, very much motivated about what is going on. Because that happened with Judge Kavanaugh from the very beginning, this is not a fair process. What the Republicans did was to telegraph after Dr. Ford’s account came forward, what they telegraph was, one, Dr. Ford, we don’t want to hear from you. Two, if we have to hear from you, we will rig the hearing —

BASH: Should they be going after people at restaurants?

HIRONO: This is what happens because when you look at white supremacists and all that, this is what’s coming forth in our country. There is a  tremendous divisiveness in our country. This is the kind of activism that occurs and people make their own decisions.

Say what?  White supremacists and all that?  This woman has to be taken seriously enough in order to oust her out of her position of representation.

Saying that she thinks people are “motivated” and that the confirmation hearings were “not a fair process,” along with saying that such behavior is “people make their own decisions.”  That is not a denunciation of the criminal activity.

DNC Chair Tom Perez was right the first time when he uttered, “There are no moderate Democrats left.”

However, to cover herself, she threw in, “If they violate the law, then they have to account for that.”

Only Hirono won’t actually push for that, in the same manner that she claimed to have believed the lying Christine Ford, she is also saying in that same breath she believes Judge Kavanaugh lied under oath.  Every piece of evidence and every witness supported Kavanaugh, including Ford’s lifelong friend Leland Keyser, but Hirono doesn’t have the guts to actually try and hold Kavanaugh to a perjury charge.  Everything the Senate Democrats did was a political hit in those hearings.  It wasn’t about confirming a constitutional judge.  By the way, though Republican senators pretty much bent over backward for Dr. Ford, they weren’t really set on trying to understand if Judge Kavanaugh was constitutional or not either.

It was all a dog and pony show.

If you want to know if Democrats will be civil, you only need to listen to their former failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, who said that Democrats will be civil once they regain power, but not until then.

That’s a lie too.  They haven’t been civil for a very long time.

Still, the fact that people in this country have debased themselves to the point of threatening to assassinate their political opponents and even their wives demonstrates the Hell that America is being turned into, not because we don’t elect Republicans, and not because we elect Democrats, but because we have turned from the Lord our God.  We have forgotten His goodness and mercy and grace that was shed upon our country and our forefathers for hundreds of years.  We have become a land of forgetfulness because we have failed to teach our children about the God who established us, who gave us our rights and established government to protect those rights and punish true criminals.

If the day comes that we are awakened to our own sinfulness and repent of it, then, and only then, will we see the hand of God move here and heal our land.  Until then, expect things to only get worse.

Last week the United States, Mexico, and Canada agreed to replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with a new United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Sadly, instead of replacing NAFTA’s managed trade with true free trade, the new USMCA expands government’s control over trade.

For example, under the USMCA’s “rules of origin,” at least 75 percent of a car’s parts must be from the US, Canada, or Mexico in order to avoid tariffs. This is protectionism designed to raise prices of cars using materials from outside North America.

The USMCA also requires that 40 to 45 percent of an automobile’s content be made by workers earning at least 16 dollars per hour. Like all government-set wages, this requirement will increase prices and decrease employment.

The USMCA also requires Mexico to pass legislation recognizing the “right of collective bargaining.” In other words, this so-called free trade agreement forces Mexico to import US-style compulsory unionism. If the Mexican legislature does not comply, the US and Canada will impose tariffs on Mexican goods.

The USMCA also requires the three countries to abide by the International Labour Organization (ILO) standards for worker rights. So, if, for example, the bureaucrats at the ILO declared that Right to Work laws violate “international labor standards”’ because they weaken collective bargaining and give Right to Work states an unfair advantage over compulsory unionism states and countries, the federal government may have to nullify all state Right to Work laws.

The USMCA also obligates the three countries to work together to improve air quality. This sounds harmless but could be used as a backdoor way to impose costly new regulations and taxes, such as a cap-and-trade scheme, on America.

This agreement also forbids the use of currency devaluation as a means of attempting to gain a competitive advantage in international trade. Enforcement of this provision will be difficult if not impossible, as no central bank will ever admit it is devaluing currency to obtain a competitive advantage in international trade. Of course, given that the very act of creating money lowers its value, the only way to stop central banks from devaluing currency is to put them out of business. Sadly, I don’t think the drafters of the USMCA seek to restore free-market money.

The currency provision will likely be used to justify coordination of monetary policy between the Federal Reserve and the Mexican and Canadian central banks. This will lead to region-wide inflation and a global currency war as the US pressures Mexico and Canada to help the Fed counter other countries’ alleged currency manipulation and challenges to the dollar’s reserve currency status.

A true free trade deal would simply reduce or eliminate tariffs and other trade barriers. It would not dictate wages and labor standards, or require inter-governmental cooperation on environmental standards and monetary policy. A true free trade deal also would not, as the USMCA does, list acceptable names for types of cheeses.

Those of us who support real free trade must not let supporters of the USMCA get away with claiming the USMCA has anything to do with free trade. We must also fight the forces of protectionism that are threatening to start a destructive trade war. Also, we must work to stop the government from trying to control our economic activities through regulations, taxes, and (most importantly) control of the currency through central banking and legal tender laws.

If you ever wondered about the power of the internet, wonder no more. The pressure that readers across the nation – and the world – put on officials in Wayne County, North Carolina regarding the arrest of Tammy Hedges for rescuing and caring for animals during Hurricane Florence was relentless enough that all the charges have been dropped.

Ms. Hedges’ organization released the following statement:

We are very blessed that the charges against our founder, Tammie Hedges, have been dismissed. We remain optimistic that no other charges will be filed, and that this is the end to a terrible, terrible situation. We hope to devote time and energy to our rescue, Crazy’s Claws N Paws, and to our renovation of our dream project. We strive for a lifelong dedication to working with state and local law enforcement to make North Carolina safe for our animals.

We cannot begin to express our heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of support, globally, for CCNP’s founder, Tammie Hedges.

We wish to personally thank RAINA NYLIRAM from Langhorne, PA for her generosity, foresight, and love for animal security by starting the first GOFUNDME account. Although we do not know you, we are sisters in the fight for animal welfare. If you are ever in our area, please make some time for CCNP!

ESOR SAFARI from Trenton, NJ, and WENDY MAY from NC, we’d also like to thank you! Your GOFUNDME charity is much appreciated as well. Please, if you ever are in the area, come visit with us!

This experience has unified rescues and has made our organization realize that not only do we need to be vigilant in our rescue efforts but, also in our legislative efforts to foster animal welfare laws that are conducive to actually helping owners, rescuers, and animals. (source)

Thank you, Tammy Hedges, for doing the right thing by those animals. I’m so glad these ridiculous charges were dismissed. I’m thrilled that I get to report such wonderful news today.

Let’s remember how freedom won.

I know that many readers of The Organic Prepper took the time to send emails to the officials involved in Ms. Hedges’ arrest and also made contributions to her legal defense fund.

Please know that your efforts made a difference.

By standing together and making an outcry too loud to ignore, freedom won this time around. By refusing to quietly allow the prosecution of a good Samaritan, freedom won. By calling out a government out of control, freedom won.

Please remember this in the future. When you see injustice, speak up. All our voices combined are very powerful. We don’t have to allow our rights to be trampled upon by greedy governments that want us to get “permission” for every little thing. But if we silently allow it, our rights will disappear one by one. I think it even makes us complicit.

Remember this.

The people do have power. We should use it more often.

The financial enslavement of the American people (and the rest of the world) is nearly complete. Not only are private banks, the Federal Reserve, and top-tier investing corporations given free rein to plunder public coffers, but the government itself spends uncontrollably, and some $21 trillion in tax money is now ‘missing.’ Not only is this unsustainable, it is outright criminal.

The middle class appears to be the target of economic hitmen, and to make matters worse, we now see that ordinary Americans are spending almost twice as much on taxes as they are on food and clothing combined.

In an article entitled Americans Spent More on Taxes Than on Food, Clothing Combined in 2017, CNS News reports on this astounding fact of modern life in the ‘freest country in the world:

“Americans on average spent more on taxes than on food and clothing combined in 2017, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistic’s new data on consumer expenditures, which was released this month.

“Consumer units” (which include families, financially independent individuals, and people living in a single household who share expenses) spent an average of $9,562 on food and clothing in 2017, according to BLS.

But they spent $16,749 on federal, state and local taxes.” [Source]

CNS goes onto to break down the tax burden of the average American:

“Even though Americans spent more on taxes in 2017 than on food and clothing combined, the average 2017 overall tax bill of $16,749 was still lower than the average 2016 overall tax bill of $17,153.

In 2016, according to the BLS, the average American consumer unit spent $8,367 on federal income taxes; $2,046 on local income taxes; and $75 on other taxes—which the BLS rounded to a subtotal of $10,489.

The average 2016 tax bill also included $4,695 in Social Security taxes and $1,969 for property taxes—bringing the total average tax bill for the year to $17,153.

Also in 2017, Americans spent on average $7,203 on food and $1,803 on apparel and services—for a combined $9,006 on food and clothing.” [Source]

Many activists and freedom fighters in America have been working to expose the corruption inherent in the federal income tax, noting that a tax on labor is unconstitutional and serves as a defacto form of indentured servitude. In his paradigm-shifting 2006 film, America: Freedom to Fascism, director Aaron Russo actually went to the IRS and spoke to the head of this monolithic agency, attempting to hold him accountable to the American people and the Constitution. Here’s what happened:

Final Thoughts

This is all happening at a time when the economy is supposedly doing fantastic, but wealth inequality is reaching astronomical proportions. It is even estimated that the world’s richest one percent will own two-thirds of all the wealth in the world by the end of next decade. This is a class of people who have the means to organize their financial lives in such a way that helps them to avoid paying taxes, demonstrating that taxes are a really great way to bilk the middle class and force them into supporting a corrupt political class and all the organs of big government.

Meanwhile, the American people have allowed themselves to be led into dangerous societal division by a corporate news media that ignores real issues, such as the corrupt taxing system, and directs their attention onto superficial political issues and sensational nonsense.
