The cannabis revolution is upon us and legalization is spreading across the globe like a plume of smoke from a fat blunt. If you’ve been paying any attention, you’ve noticed that supporting this revolution is a wave of new scientific research that is looking at every social and medical aspect of cannabis in the hopes of helping the plant to find its rightful place in our evolving culture.

Of particular note are the research pieces comparing the effects of cannabis consumption to the effects of alcohol consumption, because one of these substances is healthy and the other is anything but. Alcohol is legal in our culture, despite the fact that pretty much everyone knows how destructive and deadly it is. The CDC says that close to 90,000 people in America alone die each year due to alcohol related illnesses and injuries. The most dangerous side effect of using cannabis is the possibility of being harassed and caged by law enforcement for enjoying a plant.

Recent research projects have shed some keen insights into how this natural plant medicine affects mind, body, behavior and spirit. Some recent notable headlines include:

Beyond the scientific benefits of cannabis are the social benefits. And in a recent study, researchers quizzed participants on their feelings about sex while drunk on alcohol versus sex while high on cannabis. The results are not surprising for anyone who’s tried this, but the conclusions further chip away at the alcohol-dominant culture we were all born into. It also helps to further understand why so many people are quitting alcohol in favor of weed.

Looking at the potential for engaging in risky or dangerous sexual behaviors, the socialization aspect, pleasure derived, heightened sensitivity and so on, the study concluded that people enjoy sex more while high on cannabis than they do while intoxicated on booze.

From Brides magazine:

In a study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior earlier this year, a team of New York University researchers investigated whether or not there was an association between using marijuana and unsafe sexual behaviors. As part of their analysis, they looked to another, ah, influential substance that often plays a role in sex amongst younger people: alcohol. That’s because there’s plenty of research on the sexual risks associated with alcohol use. It is, after all, legal to buy in all 50 states.

The sample of participants in this study was small: The authors interviewed 24 adults between the ages of 18 to 35 (found via Craigslist New York City) who said they’d had sex while high within the past three months. Specifically, participants were asked to compare what sex is like after drinking alcohol compared to sex after using marijuana.

Overall, each participant had something different to say about these experiences, but there were some common themes. For example, many felt that being under the influence, whether it was via alcohol or weed, definitely impacted who they ended up sleeping with.

Alcohol, however, was more likely to impact that decision negatively. Not surprisingly, the most commonly reported feeling after drunk sex was regret. As one 34-year-old woman told researchers: “With weed I know who I’m waking up with. With drinking, you don’t know. Once you start drinking, everybody looks good.”

Many people in the study also described a difference in physical sensitivity during drunk sex vs. during high sex. “Alcohol tends to be a lot more numb,” a 27-year-old male participant told researchers. “Everything is sort of blunted and muted, whereas with marijuana it’s intensified. Any little touch is more arousing. The body sensations, particularly on sexual organs—it’s more of an intense sensation.”

As a result, these changes in sensation also appeared to impact the length and intensity of sex as well as orgasm. A 34-year-old female participant said she felt like her orgasms “magnified at least by five times” after partaking in ganja, while others noted they couldn’t climax while high because they couldn’t focus.

What’s really interesting, lead author and associate professor of population health Joseph J. Palamar told Inverse when the study first came out online in 2016, is that—for a couple of people at least—marijuana’s illegality seemed to play a role in their hookups.

Final Thoughts

Quitting alcohol is a big deal for so many people, and as I’ve written in the past, many people experience very common, very positive side effects or results from putting down the bottle.

This place we all call home, Earth, is currently in the throes of some serious magnetic turmoil. And scientists are now warning that we’re possibly in for a very rough ride in the months and years ahead, as our North and South Poles are actually moving from their formerly fixed points.

According to a paper recently published in the peer-reviewed journal Nature, what’s happening is that magnetic North Pole is traveling away from Canada and towards Siberia – and it’s doing this so quickly that scientists are now having to issue emergency updates to the maps used by electronic navigation systems.

While Earth’s magnetic fields have always been in a state of flux, this flux is picking up some dramatic speed, experts warn. What this means is that the World Magnetic Model (WMM), upon which most modern navigation relies, is becoming obsolete much more quickly than normal.

The last version of this model was released in 2015, and was supposed to last until 2020, scientists claim. But because the poles are now changing at breakneck speed, this model is having to be updated a lot sooner – assuming there’s funding to be had amid the current federal government shutdown.

“[The World Magnetic Model] was due to be updated on the 15th January, but due to the U.S. Government shutdown, that has already been delayed until the 30th,” writes Mark Prigg for the DailyMail Online about the current situation.

Will Earth’s poles eventually FLIP? It’s a strong possibility

While it would seem that the Poles, and mainly the North Pole, are simply veering off-course at an unusually fast rate, scientists warn that every so often they actually flip – and that this could be what’s occurring before our very eyes.

Currently, the worst affected areas are those north of Canada in the Arctic Ocean. But should the Poles eventually swap places entirely, the entire globe will be affected.

“It’s moving at about 50 km (30 miles) a year,” says Ciaran Beggan from the British Geological Survey in Edinburgh, as quoted by Reuters. “It didn’t move much between 1900 and 1980, but it’s really accelerated in the past 40 years.”

Fortunately for the average person, the current changes will go largely unnoticed, as civilian navigation systems used at lower latitudes rely on radio waves from satellites that aren’t affected by this ongoing drift – at least for now.

“It doesn’t really affect mid or low latitudes,” Beggan adds. “It wouldn’t really affect anyone driving a car.”

But there could come a point where everyone will be affected, especially since, as Arnaud Chulliat from the University of Colorado Boulder and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Centers for Environmental Information puts it, “the error is increasing all the time.”

“In early 2018, as part of our regular assessment of the WMM, we found that the model exceeded its specification for declination only three years into the five-year WMM cycle,” he told an audience at a recent gathering of the American Geophysical Union.

“We investigated this error and tracked it down to the combined effect of a global geomagnetic acceleration pulse occurring in 2015-2016, and a fast-changing magnetic field in the North polar area.”

As for the location of the South Pole, Chulliat and other scientists seem to agree that its current drift is “very low” – but as previously mentioned, that could change. Experts hope that the new model that takes into account the North Pole’s more dramatic shift will remain accurate until the next regularly schedule update, which is set to occur in 2020.

Be sure to check out this story by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger about how the ongoing magnetic pole shift was linked to poisonous “space clouds” associated with mysterious bird deaths.

If the U.S. health care system was a country, it would have the fifth largest GDP on the entire planet.  At this point only the United States, China, Japan and Germany have a GDP that is larger than the 3.5 trillion dollar U.S. health care market.  If that sounds obscene to you, that is because it is obscene.  We should want people to be attracted to the health care industry because they truly want to help people that are suffering, but instead the primary reason why people are drawn to the health care industry these days is because of the giant mountains of money that are being made.  Like so many other things in our society, the health care industry is all about the pursuit of the almighty dollar, and that is just wrong.

In order to keep this giant money machine rolling, the health care industry has to do an enormous amount of marketing.  If you can believe it, a study that was just published found that at least 30 billion dollars a year is spent on such marketing.

Hoping to earn its share of the $3.5 trillion health care market, the medical industry is pouring more money than ever into advertising its products — from high-priced prescriptions to do-it-yourself genetic tests and unapproved stem cell treatments.

Spending on health care marketing nearly doubled from 1997 to 2016, soaring to at least $30 billion a year, according to a study published Tuesday in JAMA.

This marketing takes many different forms, but perhaps the most obnoxious are the television ads that are endlessly hawking various pharmaceutical drugs.  If you watch much television, you certainly can’t miss them.  They always show vibrant, smiling, healthy people participating in various outdoor activities on bright, sunny days, and the inference is that if you want to be like those people you should take their drugs.  And the phrase “ask your doctor” is usually near the end of every ad…

The biggest increase in medical marketing over the past 20 years was in “direct-to-consumer” advertising, including the TV commercials that exhort viewers to “ask your doctor” about a particular drug. Spending on such ads jumped from $2.1 billion in 1997 to nearly $10 billion in 2016, according to the study.

As a result of all those ads, millions of Americans rush out to their doctors to ask about drugs that they do not need for diseases that they do not have.

And on January 1st, dozens of pharmaceutical manufacturers hit Americans with another annual round of massive price increases.

But everyone will just keep taking those drugs, because that is what the doctors are telling them to do.  But what most people never find out is that the pharmaceutical industry goes to great lengths to get those doctors to do what they want.  According to NBC News, the big drug companies are constantly “showering them with free food, drinks and speaking fees, as well as paying for them to travel to conferences”.

It is a legal form of bribery, and it works.

When you go to most doctors, they will only have two solutions to whatever problem you have – drugs or surgery.

And since nobody really likes to get cut open, and since drugs are usually the far less expensive choice, they are usually the preferred option.

Of course if doctors get off the path and start trying to get cute by proposing alternative solutions, they can get in big trouble really fast

Today’s medical doctors are not allowed to give nutritional advice, or the American Medical Association will come shut them down, and even if they were, they don’t know the right things to say, because they weren’t educated that way in medical college. So instead, M.D.s just sling experimental, addictive drugs at symptoms of deeper rooted sicknesses, along with immune-system-destroying antibiotics and carcinogenic vaccines.

That’s why any medicine that wrecks your health is easy to come by, just like junk food in vending machines. The money isn’t made off the “vending” products, the money is made off the sick fools who are repeat offenders and keep going back to the well for more poison – it’s called chronic sick care or symptom management. Fact: Prescription drugs are the fourth leading cause of death in America, even when “taken as directed.”

Switching gears, let’s talk about hospitals for a moment.

When you go to the hospital, it is often during a great time of need.  If you are gravely ill or if an accident has happened and you think you might die, you aren’t thinking about how much your medical care is going to cost.  At that moment you just want help, and that is a perfect opportunity for predators to take advantage of you.

Just consider the example of 24-year-old Nina Dang.  She broke her arm while riding her bicycle in San Francisco, and so she went to the emergency room.

The hospital that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg donated so much money to definitely fixed her arm, but later they broke her bank account when they hit her with a $24,000 bill

A bystander saw her fall and called an ambulance. She was semi-lucid for that ride, awake but unable to answer basic questions about where she lived. Paramedics took her to the emergency room at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, where doctors X-rayed her arm and took a CT scan of her brain and spine. She left with her arm in a splint, on pain medication, and with a recommendation to follow up with an orthopedist.

A few months later, Dang got a bill for $24,074.50. Premera Blue Cross, her health insurer, would only cover $3,830.79 of that — an amount that it thought was fair for the services provided. That left Dang with $20,243.71 to pay, which the hospital threatened to send to collections in mid-December.

Most Americans assume that if they have “good health insurance” that they are covered if something major happens.

But as Dang found out, you can still be hit with crippling hospital bills even if you have insurance.

Today, medical debt is the number one reason why Americans declare bankruptcy.  Because of the way our system is set up, most families are just one major illness away from financial ruin.

And this kind of thing is not just happening in California.  The median charge for a visit to the emergency room nationally is well over a thousand dollars, and you can be billed up to 30 dollars for a single pill of aspirin during a hospital stay.

Our health care system is deeply broken, and it has been designed to squeeze as much money out of all of us as it possibly can.

Unfortunately, we are stuck with this system for now.  The health care industry is certainly not going to reform itself, and the gridlock in Washington is going to make a political solution impossible for the foreseeable future.

Many doctors in Texas are reporting that their patients are suffering from a viral infection for over one month. Although the virus appears to be different to that of the common cold or the flu, it is causing long-term illness.

According to a CBS Local News report, Physicians with Texas Health Dallas are seeing a spike in such cases reported a spokesperson. Additionally, Dr. Gary Gross, who is on staff with Texas Health Dallas, said that this infection can persist four to six weeks and maybe even longer.

“The cough is unusual in two respects,” Dr. Gross said.“Usually, we’ll see a person get a cough or a cold and it will last for a week or 10 days. But this year it’s lasting for like four weeks, six weeks. And it just doesn’t seem to get better.” The other odd thing about this viral infection is that it appears to be spreading quickly; a lot more people have it. According to Gross, he is seeing at least one patient a day with the virus. For perspective, he usually sees one a week at the very most.

Of course, when it comes to viruses, there is no immediate fix.  Like the common cold, this persistent cough must run its course. Antibiotics won’t work on a viral infection. “There’s some medicines that have a substance called [DM]. DM is what we usually use. And those medicines that have the DM do seem to calm the cough. There are some other medicines that are prescription that they can get from their doctor,” Gross added.  But there isn’t much anyone can do other than drink plenty of fluids and get a lot of rest.

Gross says everyone should pay attention to how long their cough lasts and be able to know the difference between allergies and persistent infection.  If you are coughing only on those warm winter days, you are likely experiencing a pollen allergy. “So the definition of a chronic cough is eight weeks or longer and that is because so many people with viruses can have a cough up to eight weeks. And it’s just the virus. It’s not something in the person that’s making them cough.”

According to CBS local news, this illness will present itself with some minor aches and pains, but those will alleviate quickly leaving one with a long-lasting cough.

Twitter is able to track and collect your online activity data even if you have chosen to log out and delete their app. This is all thanks to an obscure and hidden setting that can only be disabled by accessing a particular page on Twitter’s website.

According to Breitbart, Twitter is likely still collecting your data if you have at any time, downloaded their app to your phone. This story was verified by Breitbart by testing Twitter’s data collection on an Apple iPhone, following a tip from banned conservative Twitter users @TheALX. Not only is Twitter neck deep in a censorship campaign, but once they’ve silenced a voice, they will continue to violate that former user’s privacy rights as well.

Even when Twitter’s app was deleted from the iPhone, and no Twitter account was logged in, when navigating to Twitter’s “Personalization and Data Settings” page via a browser, Breitbart discovered that data collection on the device was still enabled.

According to Twitter’s personalization page, all it takes is one login on a device to activate data collection across all devices until users discover the setting and switch it off. As the page explains, unless you switch off the setting, “Twitter will always personalize across the devices you’ve used to log in.” Not only that, Twitter’s personalization page goes on to explain that “Twitter mayt also link your Twitter account to other devices — ones you’ve never used to log on to Twitter — to help measure and improve your experience.” (emphasis Breitbart)

Twitter then responded to Breitbart’s request for comment on the issue of data collection.

Via a Twitter spokeswoman:

Data is only collected from people without Twitter accounts if and where there has been interaction with third-party sites that have Twitter content active on them (i.e., embedded Tweets, widgets, cookies, etc.). Individuals are provided with logged out privacy tools (per your screenshot) to help them determine which information is shared or not shared. -Twitter, via Breitbart

The personalization settings one must access to disable data collection are inaccessible via Twitter’s mobile app. To switch off data collection, you will still have to navigate to Twitter’s website via a browser and find the specific page before they can disable the data collection.

Twitter also collects your browsing data if you’ve never had an account if you’ve done so much as read an article with a tweet embedded. As Breitbart puts it:

In other words, as long as you’ve browsed websites that have embedded Tweets, Twitter cookies, or Twitter’s sharing widget, Twitter has your browsing data from that site. Considering that the vast majority of the top 50 U.S. websites (including pornography, payment processing, and banking websites) have some form of Twitter integration, this means that Twitter likely has a detailed profile one you even if you’ve never signed up for an account or used its platform.

Click here if you would like to disable all of Twitter’s sneaky data collections and privacy-violating scams.
