The White House has declined to comment on why they think they have the legal authority to strike Syria without congressional approval. This comes as the Trump administration puts “all options on the table” and tries to decide how much damage to inflict on the war-torn nation.

The president has the authority to deploy military force in the interest of self-defense, but outside that rationale, the president’s legal authority becomes murkier. And striking Syria is not in the interest of self-defense, but a provocative escalation of war. Critics simply want president Donald Trump to declare why he thinks it’s necessary to inflame an issue over what’s amounting to a false flag chemical attack.

But what the White House does have, is a seven-page memo that they say “makes the case” for a strike.

After the United States’ missile strikes against Syria last year (of which the government has admitted that they has no evidence it was Bashar al-Assad who had used the chemical weapons), a group made up primarily of former Obama administration lawyers called “Protect Democracy,” filed a Freedom of Information Act request to demand the legal justification for the strikes. They were told of a seven-page memo that the White House will likely use this time around to make the case for an attack.

Although the first page containing the background information is classified, the other six pages are not. Protect Democracy filed an update with the court asking for a speedy resolution of its lawsuit on the heels of Trump’s Monday tweet stating that “smart missiles” incoming to Syria were imminent. Now the White House is saying they can’t share the six pages of information that allegedly gives the Trump administration the legal authority to start a war.

The Trump administration argues that the memo was prepared for the purpose of giving advice to the president and says in a court filing that disclosure could “chill the open and frank expression of ideas.” Senator Tim Kaine, D-Va. (Hillary Clinton’s running mate), who has become a leading voice advocating for Congress’ responsibility to approve military action, said the president should release the memo before any strikes, but that he would approve of attacking Syria.

“Without congressional authorization, any military action President Trump takes in Syria that isn’t in self-defense is illegal,” Kaine said in a statement on Wednesday. “And while he’s at it, he should also release the secret legal memo that reportedly justifies the airstrikes on Syria last year — which clearly haven’t deterred Syrian leader Bashar Assad — and that the president is apparently now using as precedent for unilateral military action.”

It looks like Kaine got the memo telling him that even though there’s no evidence in either chemical attack that Assad was responsible, Assad is somehow still responsible. Kaine told NPR this week that while in general, he would support airstrikes against Assad, he does not believe that the president can unilaterally bomb a sovereign country like Syria without congressional authorization.

It doesn’t seem like Trump will have any trouble getting Congress to agree to start another war, however. It just may take him longer to start it if he asks their permission. The one thing the left and right statists can agree on: war.

The United States and Russia have been engaged in a war of words over military intervention in Syria, with both countries now mobilizing their armed forces in preparation for conflict. Though the U.S. public doesn’t appear to consider the developing situation in the region as a serious threat, the citizens of Moscow are being urged to prepare for nuclear war with America by stockpiling essential and life saving goods in their homes and bunkers.

Russian state-owned television is urging the country’s residents to stock their bunkers with water and basic foodstuffs because Moscow could go to war with Washington.

Warning that the potential conflict between the two superpowers would be “catastrophic,” an anchor for Russia’s Vesti 24 showed off shelves of food, recommending that people buy salt, oatmeal and other products that can last a long time on the shelves. Powdered milk lasts five years while sugar and rice can last up to eight years, the newscaster explained before showing videos of pasta cooking in a bomb shelter.

Moscow has built some 5,000 bunkers over the last decade and has been actively holding nuclear emergency drills in an effort to prepare residents for the possibility of a worst-case scenario global conflict.

While such a scenario playing out in the real world is likely a low probability event, it can most certainly happen, especially when tensions and rhetoric are running high as they are at the moment. With both countries possessing massive militaries and thousands of nuclear weapons, a small misstep or misunderstanding could very quickly devolve into a hot war, the likes of which the world has never seen.

All it takes is for one person to misinterpret a comment or strategic action and the red button gets pushed. And once that happens, all bets are off.

Taking the potential for such a threat seriously and making preparations before disaster strikes could be the difference between life and death. Citizens of Moscow and broader Russia are getting ready.

“This whole idea that all of a sudden Assad’s gassing his own people, I think, is total nonsense,” declared Ron Paul in a new RT interview with host Ed Schultz. President Donald Trump has blamed Syria President Bashar al-Assad, along with Russia and Iran, for the alleged gas attack. However, Paul, a former United States House of Representatives member and presidential candidate, points out that “over and over again” the US has claimed the Syria or Russia government is guilty of this or that wrongdoing, from previous gas attacks in Syria to the poisoning of Sergei and Yulia Skripal in London, but “nothing panned out.” It is just, Paul argues, one “fake news” story after another.

So why the rush to condemn the Syria government and take military action against Syria even though the evidence does not show the Syria government is responsible for the most recent and prior alleged gas attacks? Paul, who founded the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity in 2013 after leaving the US House, suggests that the motivation is connected to foreign policy goals in relation to Saudi Arabia and Iran, as well as the influence of neoconservatives, oil interests, and the military-industrial complex.

Paul further argues that, while it makes no sense for Assad or the Russia government to bring about a gas attack, people who want to provide a reason for the US military to be engaged in Syria, after Trump recently said the US military very soon would leave Syria, could benefit from such an attack.

Medical sources have claimed dozens of people were killed in a Douma, Syria chemical attack on Saturday, but those numbers are impossible to verify, prompting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov to say there’s been no evidence found of a chemical weapons attack in Syria’s formerly rebel-held town.

The alleged attack took place over the weekend, however, Lavrov said Russian specialists and aid workers had visited the area, which rebel fighters have started leaving under a surrender deal. “Our military specialists have visited this place, along with representatives of the Syrian Red Crescent… and they did not find any trace of chlorine or any other chemical substance used against civilians,” he said.

More importantly, the US and France have threatened a “joint, strong response.”President Donald Trump said on Monday that the situation was being assessed and “major decisions” would be made within 48 hours. But Moscow has already declared the chemical attack as “false news” and warned against any intervention in Syria.

The Russian Foreign Ministry denounced the latest reports about the chemical attack that allegedly affected dozens of civilians in the militant-controlled town of Douma. It said the reports were another example of a continuous series of fake news about the use of chlorine and other chemical agents by the government forces.”   Even more telling, as the ministry pointed out, was that the source of the reports was the notorious civil defense group, the White Helmets, which has been repeatedly accused of having ties to terrorists, as well as other groups based in the US and UK.

According to RT, Russia has previously warned about a false-flag chemical attack being prepared in the recent months, the ministry said. Those who are not interested in a genuine political settlement of the Syrian crisis are seeking to complicate the situation on the ground, it added.

“The goal of this… baseless speculation is to shield the terrorists and… the radical opposition that refuse to engage in a political settlement [process], as well as to justify potential military strikes from the outside,” the statement said. It then warned that any military interference in Syria conducted under “far-fetched or fabricated pretexts” would be “absolutely unacceptable” and could lead to “dire consequences.”

The current tensions in the Middle East at first appear to be random acts of probes and military maneuvers. The Syrian question is a big one. What is happening over there? Well, a continuation of Obama-era policies of supporting “freedom fighters” against the reign of Bashar al-Assad, the leader of Syria…that is what is happening. Recently, Russian contractors were killed in battles against U.S. supported “rebels.” The Russian contractors cannot serve Russia (it’s against their law for merc’s to do such), but nothing stopped them from being hired by Assad and Syria.

But “freedom fighters” are only termed that by the United States when an insurgency is desired to overthrow an existing government that is not in favor with the U.S…. a “heroic people’s revolution” in the never-ending quest to force nations into the “freedom” of American democracy.SHTFPlan

It isn’t too far off base to think that this chemical attack was a false flag and in preparations for weeks or even months.

Superficial, obvious “reasons” for war are the ones the public swallows, gulping down from the firehose supplied by the ceaseless litany of lies and drivel from the mainstream media. The true reasons can only be found by those willing to not swallow the “crafted narrative.” We must look for the underlying money trails and political agendas of those self-serving leaders…puppet masters who see false flags as tools with State-sponsorship that fulfill their own goals and plans…at the cost (as usual) of We the People. SHTFPlan

Unfortunately, the “price” Trump wants Russia, Iran, and Syria to pay will cost the American taxpayer.  Was this a false flag attack? Perhaps.  But perhaps the only thing we really know for certain is that the mainstream media will spin this news story and paint the picture for us all, manipulating the simple-minded into accepting whatever atrocity may come from it: all in the name of “freedom” of course.

On the 2016 campaign trail, President Donald J. Trump famously stated he would not only bomb the sh*t out of ISIS’ oil fields but that he would also kill the terrorists’ families.

“We’re fighting a very politically correct war,” Trump said at the time. “And the other thing with the terrorists — you have to take out their families. When you get these terrorists, you have to take out their families! They care about their lives, don’t kid yourselves. They say they don’t care about their lives. But you have to take out their families.”

After barely half a year in office, ongoing reports detailed how U.S. airstrikes were, indeed, wiping out entire families in Syria. While one would be hard-pressed to demonstrate that this was being done intentionally as part of Trump’s overall hawkish strategy to bomb the Middle East into oblivion, it certainly was the reality on the ground for many Syrian families.

Of course, part of this grim reality could be due to the fact that Donald Trump relaxed the Obama-era restrictions on calling in air strikes, meaning even Iraqi commanders on the ground could call in airstrikes with zero oversight. The Trump administration has had little regard for civilian life in the Middle East (except, of course, in instances where the Assad government in Syria is the one allegedly killing civilians).

Now, a new report from the Washington Post has confirmed that Trump has virtually no concern for civilian life in places like Syria, regardless of whether or not he actively wants the U.S. military to murder innocent families.

According to the Post, on Trump’s first visit to the CIA’s drone operations floor during his first full day in office, the agency showed him a feed from Syria where Obama-era restrictions limited the CIA to fly only surveillance flights as part of a push to return the CIA to its original core functions, leaving lethal counterterrorism operations to the military.

Trump, however, urged the CIA to start arming its drones in Syria, reportedly telling the agency: “[I]f you can do it in 10 days, get it done.

Then, the Post explained:

“Later, when the agency’s head of drone operations explained that the CIA had developed special munitions to limit civilian casualties, the president seemed unimpressed. Watching a previously recorded strike in which the agency held off on firing until the target had wandered away from a house with his family inside, Mr Trump asked, ‘Why did you wait?’ one participant in the meeting recalled.”

To date, there is still no formal proof that the U.S. military was actually ordered to start murdering families, but again, whether or not murdering innocent families has been done intentionally or recklessly, this certainly has been the reality for many families in the Middle East (including places like Yemen, too).

In January of this year, Airwars reported:

“Non-combatant deaths from Coalition air and artillery strikes rose by more than 200 per cent compared to 2016, rising to between 3,923 and 6,102 civilians estimated killed during the year according to Airwars tallies. By another measure, roughly 65% of all civilian deaths from Coalition actions tracked by our team since 2014 occurred over the last 12 months. This unprecedented death toll coincided with the start of the Trump presidency, and suggested in part that policies aimed at protecting civilians had been scaled back under the new administration.”  [emphasis added]

According to a special report published by the Associated Press, the real death toll of the U.S.-led fight to retake Mosul in Iraq alone was as high as 9,000 civilians. By the end of the war in the Syrian city of Raqqa, roughly 80 percent of the city had been destroyed.

As the Post has now confirmed, it is more than clear that these statistics are actually something for Mr. Trump to brag about, not to be ashamed of.
